Posted: Dec 08, 2009 3:20 AM CST I might take that $1.80 on Hogarth. Do you want some recent track form to ammend your odds before next week as I would hate anyone to lose money on me - dc |

Posted: Dec 08, 2009 4:07 PM CST Stingy bookmaker! Head to head odds are normally $1.85 each. Don't quit your day job Hurring, whatever it is that you do... $5 on Ning |
hurrah |
Posted: Dec 08, 2009 11:50 PM CST odds were compiled by Harris and Hurring... Harris the stingy silent partner in crime. |

Posted: Dec 09, 2009 2:33 AM CST 25 on ning, 50 on dc, 25 on that chump paying $14.00. |

Posted: Dec 09, 2009 2:55 AM CST That better be cents Stef. Not much recent form to go on for Ning makes him a toughie to pick, or pick against. Hogarth has shown some recent form and would be silly to bet against, especially as he'll be wanting to get the upper hand on his competitors leading into the 10k. Myself, well, I decided to remove a kneecap on Saturday and am just hoping it returns before next week. And everyone else - well there are some who I'd expect to be in the mix and some who could surprise - there are scalps for the taking - who wants them? - dc |

Posted: Dec 09, 2009 4:15 AM CST $5 on Olsen, which will double to $10 if he is still there at the bell |
fano |
Posted: Dec 09, 2009 4:01 PM CST Course its cents Rees! So whoever was the 021 texting me this morning saying "they will take the bets if im serious" no Im not a betting man. But if I were to pick, my top 3 are ning, hogarth (cos dwal tells me he cant kick) some other south islander. Canterbury guys always seem to be pretty decent shape for a 5km in Dec, Olsen ftw if there at bell agree coggy. Id be stoked with anything under 15min. |
ning |
Posted: Dec 09, 2009 5:32 PM CST I'll take $20 on Moody thanks. Likewise Stef, looking to dip under 15min since I didn't manage that on my last one! |
fano |
Posted: Dec 09, 2009 6:37 PM CST Haha fair enough ning, that last one was a shocker! |
hurrah |
Posted: Dec 10, 2009 12:36 AM CST no one prepared to put their money where their mouth is...and everyone keen to deflect the form spotlight, despite strong evidence to the contrary! Should be a good race. |

Posted: Dec 10, 2009 3:58 AM CST A lot of hot air, down playing and trickery on this thread! (aside from coggy) Ning you are the national XC champion and ran 15 flat for 5km on tuesday as part of your traning so i think you might sneak under ´the barrier´. Your odds at 1.80 for the win are justified. I dont see why the Wellington lot would come down if they werent in any shape to run at least alright and Its only 5 weeks from the XC trial which the bookmakers presume they are peaking for. Sounds like moody and lambo have been having problems which may affect their future stakes, but there are rumours from the ´altitude´ camp in hanmer that coggy may have picked a winner. All will be revealed soon!

Posted: Dec 10, 2009 1:26 PM CST You have to start racing at some time Harris, Im dead serious about getting under 15min by the way. Rees loves to down play, though I saw his knee last night and pretty fuckin yellow/bruised and swollen. By my count I would have the trial at 8 weeks away not 5 weeks, unless there is a different trial going on? Plenty of time to get in shape still. Im more than happy to travel its not that far to go for a race, be good for others to travel to Tauranga for the 10km and Capital Classic 3km too. And yes I will be doing both of them, just incase you think I might be shadowing :). |

Posted: Dec 12, 2009 10:40 PM CST If we're betting, I'd go $20 that the comment two posts above from "Matthew Harris" wasn't posted by the real M@ Harris. I vote Lambo for the upset. Prove me right Matt :o) There's a 13.XX in you, if not in '09 then one day soon. Kim, Ning, Mark B, looking forward to hearing how you make those milers hurt on laps 9 & 10. Motters, have heard you've been on the track in spikes, backing up your recent marathon pb. Are you a dark horse late entrant. We need at least 30 guys in the A race if we're to do a real Mt Sac impersonation... Have a good run all, I will be in UK so will keep an eye on message board for results. Southerner |

Posted: Dec 13, 2009 3:25 PM CST Thanks Southerner - unfrtunately Lambo is a scratching so you may need to re-assess your dark horse pick... No spikes for me just yet but surprisingly managed to clip out some 200's in 32/33s on the second 1/2 of the lads 400s last Tuesday while in flats. Couldn't run for two days after though so don't think i will be pacemaking anytime soon... Craig |

Posted: Dec 13, 2009 4:02 PM CST No matter who wins, it is sure to produce some PB's and some good racing throughout the field. M@, despite making the trip South, and Fano's suggestion I am talking myself down, I will not be a threat to anyone under 14:30 - see you all on Saturday - dc |

Quite warm (very warm compared to welly :)) and little breezey but a good race. Plenty of photos thanks to gussys dad so will get them up later. From my view: through 3km in 8.56 with Rees and in about 12th or so position, caught a bunch ahead of us with ning, hogarth, bailey, tings quite far ahead. Rees closed well getting away from me at 3 and half km. Was plenty of pbs with a few boys getting after it early on. Hogarth looked really relaxed from photos. A few pops but to be expected. Good runs by hicksy and bailey for my picks - also hogarth for the win. 13 guys under 15min. Weather wasn't favourable but other than that a good race to be apart of. Hope we get a good field to the 10km in TGA in a couple of weeks and then NZ 3km, field should be rolling there! Thanks to New Balance and Canterbury for putting on a good race and getting a good field assembled. Also cheers coggy for getting results up so quickly! Look forward to hearing results of night of miles and johny walker miles!
